The Bean Shape in Figure Drawing
This video shows how to draw the bean shape in your gestures. The bean shape is a very effective and simple way to capture the volume and pose of the figure. We also cover how to add the bean shape the the LSF mode of gesture, and how to draw complex twisting poses!

Rendering Exercise
While these two handouts are not strictly figurative, the figure is made up of simple forms as we have discussed in the construction section of this site. Doing these exercises from life and with careful observation in mind is a great way to practice your rendering when a model is not present. This will also help you see how to adapt photographs which contain less information than observation from life.
